libertà va cercando

Freedom is what he seeks are the words Virgil says to Cato on the beach in Purgatory. These words made us wonder about the meaning of freedom. We asked ourselves whether prison walls can really take away freedom or whether the real prison is inside our heads.

Freedom is what he seeks is a phrase that should not only come from the mouth of a prisoner. Freedom is the oldest desire and right for which men have ever fought.

On Tuesday 11 November, at the Teatro Ristori, ‘Un mare dentro’ brought to the stage emotions, stories and questions that call us to look at prison as a possible space for growth, not just punishment.
