theatre in prison
This is a journey in which a single place becomes a trajectory for crossing infinite spaces.
Walls or bars may prevent movement, but stories cannot be locked up and stopped.
And so, at Verona Prison, the gamble was ventured once again: with the verses of Nikos Kazantzakis' Odyssey, the actors and singers of the "Teatro del Montorio" gave words, music and wings to the final landing: Ulisse. La solitudine (Ulysses. Solitude). And so, the men of Montorio unmasked emotion, lifted desire high, filled hope like a sail, quenched the thirst for humanity. With the Casa Circondariale di Verona, Le Falìe and Fondazione San Zeno, the twelfth chapter of a tireless voyage — begun twelve years ago — was brought to the stage.
The "Teatro del Montorio" project by Le Falìe is part of the Coordinamento Nazionale Teatro in Carcere (National Coordination of Theatre in Prison).
