Where
Jordan, Zarqa, MafraqThe project in brief
Some of them have never set foot in a school. They were born after their parents fled Syria, and have grown up in informal settlements on the outskirts of Zarqa and Mafraq, where distance, costs and agricultural labour make education unreachable — or entirely absent.
A Journey Towards the Future brings education where it does not normally reach: literacy courses, school support, and facilitators chosen from within the communities themselves — refugees, like the children they accompany. Because learning reignites within relationships of trust. And a future built on opportunity begins there.
Our contribution
Support for the project A Journey Towards the Future, promoted by Terre des Hommes and Vento di Terra in the governorates of Zarqa and Mafraq, Jordan.
Support for basic literacy activities in Arabic and mathematics and school catch-up programmes for Syrian refugee children living in informal settlements.
Contribution to the training of community facilitators selected from within the settlements themselves, supported by mentors on a daily basis.
